I haven’t asked MMDAs to pay GHS5K for my dad’s funeral – W/R Min.
Western Regional Minister Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah has denied claims in the media that he has asked the district, municipal and metropolitan assemblies he superintends, to make financial contributions toward his father’s funeral.
A circular had claimed the minister was demanding that the MMDAs pay between GHS2,000 and GHS5,000 as their respective contributions.
They had been given up to Monday, 20 September 2021 to make the payment.
The Regional Minister, however, denied the claim in a statement he has “not instructed any Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executive (MMDCE) to make any payment in support” of his father’s funeral or any other funeral.
“Please disregard and consider as not true, any such information as the purported letter did not have the seal of the Regional Coordinating Council (WRCC),” the letter said.
