Mr Ebo Buckman, economic and political analyst with the Movement for Change has said  the recent media engagement by Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party's presidential candidate, has left many Ghanaians questioning his competence and integrity. 

Mr Buckman explained that the inability of Dr Bawumia to answer basic questions posed by journalists has not only dented his credibility but also highlighted a worrying lack of preparedness for the highest office in the country 

According to him, particularly concerning moment occurred when Bawumia failed to adequately respond to questions regarding the deaths of eight people during the 2020 elections. 

“As the chairman of the Ghana Police Council, his inability to address such a critical issue of national importance reflects a troubling breach of integrity and sincerity’.

He said Dr Bawumia's response to the ongoing issues at COCOBOD, given his role as head of the Economic Management Team, was equally unsettling.

 ‘His vague and uninformed answers raised serious concerns about his grasp of the economic challenges facing the nation, Mr Buckman said in an interview with Classfomnline.com

He said these among others compounded by his comments on the depreciation of the Cedi, where he appeared out of touch and failed to provide the insightful analysis expected of him. He noted his inability to offer concrete solutions to the cedi's depreciation is particularly alarming, considering his previous assertions that "when the fundamentals are weak, the exchange rate will expose you."

‘Perhaps the most startling revelation came when Dr Bawumia was asked why he had not implemented the tax cuts and policies he is now promising, despite having the authority to do so. 

His response, “if I do everything now, what will I do when I come into office,” was both baffling and disheartening, he argues. 

This response suggests a lack of genuine commitment to improving the lives of Ghanaians and raises questions about his true motivations, he added.

According to him, such reasoning undermines trust in his leadership and casts doubt on his ability to govern effectively.

‘The prospect of Dr Bawumia leading the country, alongside the uninspiring delivery of his running mate, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, is a concerning thought for many voters.

 The idea of this duo at the helm of Ghana's future will cause widespread unease.

He noted that Ghanaians deserve leaders who are not only competent but also sincere and ready to address the pressing issues facing the nation. 

The presidential race now seems to be a contest between John Mahama and Alan Kyerematen, with Bawumia appearing increasingly out of the running
