Goldfields annual tennis tournament concludes with record participation and thrilling matches

Goldfieds Tennis Tournament held

The annual Goldfields Tennis Tournament concluded on a high note, celebrating an increase in participants from 67 to 82 since its inception in 2010.

This year’s tournament was sponsored by Kamit Service and Supplies Company Limited, with additional support from De B. Rex Fire Consults.

The tournament featured intense matches, with Emmanuel Amos-Abanyie successfully defending his title in the GoldFields Professional Men’s singles, defeating Nicholas Yaw Amoah with a score of 6-1, 6-4.

In the Women’s singles final, Eunice Minta triumphed over Amanda Tetteh, winning 6-2, 6-4.

In the men’s 45+ singles category, John Adingelah claimed victory over Collins Okyere, winning 6-3, 6-3. Osman Karim dominated Francis Arthur in the social men’s singles championship, securing a decisive 6-1, 6-0 win.

Meanwhile, Daniel Acquah overcame Glennise Yirenkyi 6-3, 6-2 to claim the men’s advanced beginners’ singles title.

The men’s doubles final saw Jude Asiedu and Prince Avane edge out Henry Asante and Albert Naamu with a 9-6 victory.

In the ladies doubles, Tracy Ampah and Amanda Tetteh defeated Eunice Minta and Rosaline Minta-Afari in a close match, winning 9-8 (10/6).

Josephine Kamara claimed the Ladies’ consolation trophy after surpassing Josephine Thompson Biney 8-2.

In mixed doubles, Tracy Ampah teamed up with Osman Karim to win against Eunice Minta and Albert Naamu. In the junior categories, Natashia Abakah took the girls’ 14-and-under title, while Kimarthy Yirenkyi won the boys’ 14-and-under division, with Caleb Delali Tetteh finishing second.

Addressing attendees, Club Patron Edward Taylor commended the dedication and support of members, which has been vital to the club’s growth.

“This year's tournament showed marked improvement compared to previous years in terms of skill, talent, and intensity.

Some games even extended into the late hours, ending at 11:00 p.m.,” he remarked.

Speaking on behalf of the Gold Fields Tennis Club Chairman, Jeff Addy expressed gratitude to the sponsors and hopes they continue their support for next year’s tournament.

The club’s executives extended thanks to all who contributed to the success of this year’s event, including Kamit Services and Supplies Limited and De B. Rex Fire Consult. Congratulations went out to all participants, especially the finalists and champions.ot
