Incheon: Opening ceremony for para youth sports camp held
The Korean Paralympic Committee (KPC) held the opening ceremony of the KPC Youth Para Sports Camp on Wednesday in Incheon, South Korea, launching a week-long event designed to prepare young para-athletes for future competitions, including the 2028 Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.
The camp, which runs from November 5 to November 13, 2024, brings together 60 participants, including athletes, coaches, and support staff from various nations.
The ceremony commenced with welcoming speeches by several National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Presidents, followed by introductions of the participants.
Attendees then enjoyed a video recap of last year’s camp, highlighting the programme’s impact, before gathering for a group photo session.
The three-hour ceremony concluded with closing remarks from participants, a preview of the 2024 camp highlights, and additional opportunities for networking and bonding.
NPC-Ghana’s delegation, led by official Mr. Michael Obeng and three para-athletes, was actively involved in the opening activities.
The Ghanaian contingent, along with other participants, is set to join in sports practice sessions on November 7, which will include Badminton, Swimming, and Taekwondo.
The KPC Youth Para Sports Camp aims to provide para-athletes with essential orientation, exposure, and skills development as they build toward the next Paralympic Games, strengthening the global para-sports community and fostering connections among young athletes worldwide.
