The Ghana Tennis Federation, in partnership with the International Tennis Federation (ITF), is set to organize the 2024 National Wheelchair Tennis Junior Training Camp.

The event, scheduled for December 3, 2024, will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium Tennis Court and aims to bring together over 30 junior wheelchair tennis players from across the country.

This initiative is part of the ITF's Wheelchair Tennis Player Pathway, designed for children with physical disabilities aged 10–18.

The programme seeks to nurture young talent and lay the foundation for future professional wheelchair tennis players.

The camp aligns with the theme for the 2024 World Disability Day, "Amplifying the Leadership of People with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future."

It highlights the potential of persons with disabilities and celebrates their contributions to society globally.

Beyond introducing wheelchair tennis to new participants, the camp will serve as a platform for the Ghana Tennis Federation to establish a database of junior wheelchair tennis players.

This database will guide targeted interventions and development programmes for 2025 and beyond.

Training sessions will be led by National Coaches Yahya Macaulay and Philip Plange, with regional support from Coach Emmanuel Yaw Boateng.

This initiative underscores the Ghana Tennis Federation's commitment to inclusive sports development and its efforts to provide opportunities for young athletes with disabilities to thrive both on and off the court.
