Restoring Ghana’s economic prosperity will be tough, but I pray for wisdom to succeed – Mahama

President-elect John Dramani Mahama has acknowledged the gravity of Ghana’s economic challenges, describing the journey to recovery as arduous but achievable.

Speaking during a thanksgiving service at the Assemblies of God Church in Accra on Sunday, 15 December 2024, Mr. Mahama expressed his commitment to steering the nation out of its economic difficulties while seeking divine guidance to lead effectively.

“I can confirm that our country is still in a very severe economic crisis, and it is going to take a lot of work to bring it back.

“It is going to be a very tough task to restore our economic prosperity, but I pray that the God who gave me this responsibility will give me the strength and the wisdom to handle it,” Mr. Mahama stated.

The President-elect emphasised the importance of selecting capable individuals to support his administration in addressing the country’s pressing issues.

“I pray that God gives me the sense of discernment and wisdom to choose the right people to work in the best interest of the people of Ghana,” Mr. Mahama added, stressing the need for collaborative and competent leadership in the challenging months ahead.

Despite the challenges, the President-elect expressed his unwavering belief in Ghana’s potential for recovery, assuring citizens that the nation remains under divine favour.

“God’s favour is still on our dear country Ghana, and I know he will not forsake us,” he added, providing reassurance to Ghanaians amidst the ongoing crisis.
