NPP now accepts the alternative is not empty after all — Omane Boamah
Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress
(NDC), has said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has come to terms with the fact that the NDC is a
a credible alternative to governance.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, January 2, Dr. Omane Boamah wrote: "NPP now accepts 'The
Alternative Is [NOT] Empty."
The statement is a direct rebuttal to the NPP's 2024 campaign mantra, which dismissed the NDC's ability to govern effectively.
Background to the claim
In the lead-up to the December 7, 2024, general elections, the NPP urged Ghanaians to retain them in power, arguing that the opposition NDC had no meaningful solutions to the country's challenges.
The slogan, "The Alternative Is Empty," was central to the ruling party's messaging.
However, the elections proved otherwise, with the NDC winning the presidential race by a significant margin of 1.6 million votes.
This victory, coupled with the party's new parliamentary majority, has shifted the narrative.
