SONA: I expect Akufo-Addo to say I have failed, forgive me –Nana Yaa

Nana Yaa Jantuah, former General Secretary of the Convention People's Party (CPP), has expressed strong criticism of President Nana Akufo-Addo's tenure, urging him to issue an unqualified apology during his final State of the Nation Address (SONA) to Parliament.
In an interview on Accra-based CTV's "Ghana Nkosuo" morning show on Friday, January 3, 2025, hosted by Obaapa Yaa Titi Jantuah stated, "I expect Akufo-Addo to say, 'I have failed Ghanaians; forgive me,' and nothing else."
She dismissed the upcoming SONA as merely a constitutional formality, asserting that the President has little of substance to convey, given what she perceives as his failed leadership.
"He has nothing to say, as the people know that he failed abysmally as president," Jantuah remarked, referencing the December 7, 2024, elections as a verdict on his performance.
Jantuah criticized the President's self-assessment as Ghana's best leader, contending that economic indicators suggest otherwise.
She highlighted issues such as rising inflation and the rapid depreciation of the cedi under his administration.
Additionally, she criticized the implementation of the Free Senior High School programme, suggesting it lacked a clear policy direction.
Jantuah's comments reflect a broader sentiment of dissatisfaction among some Ghanaians regarding the current administration's handling of economic and social issues.
