The spokesperson for the John Dramani Mahama Transition Team, Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has announced that ten heads of state will be present at the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.

Addressing the media in Accra, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu revealed that the event, which will take place at the Black Star Square, will also host two vice presidents, one speaker of parliament, two former presidents, and representatives from international organizations such as the Commonwealth and the African Development Bank.

In a unique arrangement, Parliament will relocate its sitting to the Black Star Square for the swearing-in ceremony. Preparations are underway to ensure a secure and well-organized event, with access to the parliamentary session strictly limited to invited guests.

Mr. Kwakye Ofosu described the occasion as an opportunity to demonstrate Ghana’s commitment to democracy and peaceful transitions.

He emphasized the importance of adhering to access protocols, stating, “Members of the public and all invited guests are reminded that they cannot and will not be allowed to enter the swearing-in area without presenting their invitation cards.”

Guests are expected to be seated by 8:30 a.m., followed by the arrival of Members of Parliament and other dignitaries.

The Speaker of Parliament will then accompany the President-elect and Vice-President-elect to the Chamber for the formal proceedings, which are scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.

28th February Road: From CEPS Headquarters to Castle Road Junction. Castle Road: From AU Circle to Osu Cemetery Traffic Light. Starlet 91 Road: Adjacent to the Black Star Square.

Traffic from key routes such as La, Labone, and Osu towards the Central Business District will be diverted to alternative paths, including Salem Avenue and Oxford Street.
