Mahama calls on Council of State to ensure integrity and uphold national interest

President John Dramani Mahama has urged members of the newly sworn-in Council of State to approach their duties with integrity, objectivity, and a firm commitment to the national interest.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, President Mahama emphasized the importance of sincere deliberations and wise counsel in guiding government decisions.
“Your role is critical in shaping the country’s governance. I urge you to ensure that your deliberations are sincere, your advice is rooted in wisdom, and your service is focused on the welfare of the people,” he stated.
The newly inaugurated 9th Council of State comprises eminent professionals and experienced public servants, tasked with providing independent counsel to the President on national matters.
In response, the Chairman of the Council and former Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho, assured the public of the council’s dedication to its responsibilities.
“We will work diligently to uphold the mandate of the Council and contribute meaningfully to the governance of our country,” he affirmed.
The Council of State, as per Ghana’s 1992 Constitution, serves as an advisory body to the President, ensuring that governance decisions reflect national interest, transparency, and good governance principles.
