The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and former President, John Dramani Mahama, has vowed to introduce legislation that will prevent politically exposed individuals from acquiring state assets if he is elected in the December 7 general elections.

Mr Mahama stated that his administration would take measures to create strong disincentives against the looting of state resources by those in political power and the people acquainted to politicians.

Speaking at the launch of the NDC’s 2024 manifesto in Winneba, Mr Mahama firmly declared that under his leadership, no politically exposed persons, including his own family members, would be allowed to purchase state assets.

"My children, my wife cannot buy state assets," he emphasised, adding that the era of politically exposed individuals exploiting state resources would come to an end.

Mr Mahama also announced plans for an initiative called "Operation Recover All The Loot Strategies" (ORALS), aimed at reclaiming state assets and funds that have been misappropriated.

He further extended this policy to scholarships, stating that the relatives of politically exposed persons, including their spouses and siblings, would be barred from accessing scholarships.

He assured that under his administration, scholarships would be reserved for the children of ordinary Ghanaians, such as farmers among others, rather than those with political connections.
