Bawumia: No. 1 position is answered prayer
Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer has reacted to the ballot position for the ruling party.
He was addressing a Church of Pentecost congregation at Breman Asikuma, Central Region.
Thinking back on Friday, September 20, 2024, when the Electoral Commission (EC) revealed 13 entities were officially vying for the presidency, and followed up with a draw for positions on the ballot paper, Dr Bawumia said: "Two days ago, we went for the balloting to select the order of the ballot for voting.
"We prayed to the Lord and we believe that God listened to our prayers. God gave us the number one position so we are grateful to God."
Interestingly, the NPP representative picked the first position twice after the first draw was cancelled, and another started.
Ghana goes to the polls on Saturday, December 7.
Dr Bawumia and the NPP's biggest threat is former President John Mahama whose representative picked the eighth ballot position for the NDC.
