President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has officially signed the Affirmative Action Gender Equity Bill 2024 into law.
The bill, passed by Parliament in July, aims to tackle the socio-cultural, economic, and political disparities that have historically disadvantaged women due to patriarchal norms and systems.
The new law is designed to promote gender equity across both the public and private sectors, ensuring a more inclusive and balanced society.
the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dakoa Newman, confirmed the development in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, 19 September 2024.
“Update: President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo @NAkufoAddo has assented to the Affirmative Action (Gender Equity) Act, 2024. Next Step: Implementation,” she announced.
