Only two genders exist, marriage is between man and woman – President Mahama

There are “only two genders” President John Dramani Mahama has declared, underlining his belief and commitment to “values” he indicated were both Ghanaian and universal.
He added marriage was sacred to man and woman only.
He spoke during a clergy fellowship in Accra, Friday, February 28, 2025.
“I believe in the principles and values that only two genders exist – man and woman. And that marriage is between a man and a woman,” President Mahama said.
The clergy approved with nods.
The president underlined ongoing consultations with the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, to have the Proper Family Values Bill, alias anti-LGBTQIA+ bill, reintroduced in the 9th Parliament after it debuted in the eighth, and did not receive assent by former President Nana Akufo-Addo.
“It is my hope that the consultation will lead to a renewed Proper Family Values Bill,” he stated.
President Mahama recently asserted the bill should be transformed from being a private member’s motion to being championed by the government.
