Hajj Village: 'Not a pesewa of tax payers’ money involved' – Gov’t

According to Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President, the Hajj Village is owned by the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), and is being constructed same.
He added for the endeavour, no taxpayers’ money was being used.
“FACT: The Hajj Village is primarily an Airport Terminal Building for check-in and pilgrim facilitation owned and being built by the Ghana Airport Company. Not a pesewa of tax payers' money involved,” he wrote on X, Sunday, March 2, 2025.
In a follow-up post, the Minister, Government Communications, said, “The Ghana Airport Company develops and manages Air Travel facilities for profit. The Hajj Village is one such facility.”
President John Dramani Mahama on Friday, February 28, officially cut sod for the construction of the new Hajj Village.
The public has since been asking questions about the project, it’s purpose and funding.
The Hajj Village is meant to provide smooth facilitation for Muslim pilgrims going from Ghana to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, for spiritual rites.
