Lt. Col. Agyeman made 64 Infantry Battalion Commanding Officer after Kudah assault

General News
Lieutenant Colonel Frank Agyeman

Lieutenant Colonel Frank Agyeman, who recently ceased to be attached to the Ministry of National Security as Director of Operations following his alleged participation in the assault of Citi FM journalist Caleb Kudah, has been appointed as the Commanding Officer of the 64 Infantry Battalion.

A document sighted by ClassFMonline.com indicates that the appointment was made on 21 May 2021.

Lt Col Agyeman secondment to the ministry was withdrawn along with three police officers who also partook in the alleged assault.

An investigation committee set up by the Ministry of National Security to probe the issue indicated that the “secondment of Lieutenant Colonel Frank Agyeman (Director of Operations) at the Ministry has been reversed”.

“The officer is to report to the Chief of Defence Staff for further investigation and appropriate action”.

“The three police officers involved have been withdrawn and are to report to the Ghana Police Service for investigation and disciplinary action,” a statement from the ministry said.

Mr Kudah was arrested while filming a no-photography enclave while he was within the premises of the ministry on Tuesday, 11 May 2021.

He allegedly sent the videos to his female colleague who was in the office of the Adabraka-based radio station at the time, prompting a Rambo-style invasion of the media house by seven armed operatives in three Pickups to arrest his alleged co-conspirator Zoe Abu-Baidoo Addo.

The statement, signed by the Minister of National Security, Mr Albert Kan-Dapaah on 20 May 2021, also described the action of the officers as “inappropriate and contravened the ministry’s standard operating procedures”.

“The Ministry of National Security wishes to assure the general public and particularly all media practitioners that the ministry will expeditiously investigate any complaints against any personnel of its agencies”.

“The ministry assures the general public that measures continue to be taken to ensure the highest professional standards to engender public trust,” the statement added.
