Sports Minister Adams meets Columbian Ambassador Carabali over partnership in sports dev’t, promotion

The Ambassador of Columbia to Ghana, Daniel Garces Carabali, paid a courtesy on the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, on Tuesday, 25 February 2025, purposely to strengthen the relationship between their respective sports ministries and work closely with each other for the mutual benefit of their respective countries.

In receiving the Ambassador, the Minister commended him highly for his continuous interest in the development of sports in Ghana, extoling his exemplary attitude of good neighbourliness.

This was the first diplomatic meeting Mr Adams had held after assuming office.

He indicated Ghana had taken a cue from Columbia by decoupling the sports ministry from the youth ministry with the sole intention of having greater attention for sports and reaping the maximum benefits from the sector just as Columbia.

He noted having exchange programmes between the two countries in the area of skills training and coaching would go a long way to improving on the performance of sports men and women in Ghana, adding acquiring the relevant sills set in the sports sector was most important to make progress in the development of sports. 

He reiterated the government of Ghana would continue to collaborate with the Columbian government to deliver workable initiatives for the benefit of their respective people since a memorandum of understanding (MoU) had been signed for effective partnership in the area of sports development and promotion.

On his part, Ambassador Daniel Garces Carabali expressed his gratitude to the Minister for making time to receive him and to discuss issues pertinent to the development of sports for Ghana and Columbia.

He handed over a copy of the MoU signed between Ghana and Columbia for cooperation in sports development to the Minister as a symbol of commitment and expressed his belief it would further strengthen their relationship.

The Ambassador called for the revival of the MoU, assuring the Minister of his quest to put the implementation of the MoU into practice for the benefit of sports for both countries.
