GFA, football fraternity join family, Kotoko to bid Pooley farewell today

Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku will lead a high-powered delegation from the association and the football fraternity to the funeral of Kotoko super supporter Francis Nana Yaw ‘Pooley’ Frimpong, who was recently stabbed to death during a football match between Asante Kotoko SC and Nsoatreman FC.
Pooley’s burial and final funeral rites will happen at the Heroes Park, Baba Yara Stadium, today, Thursday, March 6, 2025, with the advertised time being 5 AM to 6 PM.
Mr Kurt Simeon-Okraku will be in the company of members of the executive council, regional football association chairmen, club executives and officials from the GFA to mourn with, and support Pooley’s family and Asante Kotoko.
Pooley’s farewell service is expected to attract football administrators, supporters and enthusiasts countrywide. The ceremony will not only underline his tragic death, and the need to leave violence out of the game of football, but also celebrate the life and legacy of an individual who was dedicated to the game and its growth.
