Profile of Dr. Omane Boamah, Defence Minister-designate

President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah as Defence Minister-designate in his latest round of ministerial appointments.
Dr. Omane Boamah, a seasoned politician and medical doctor, previously served as the Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He was also Minister of Communications during President Mahama’s earlier administration.
His political career includes roles as Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology and the Ministry of Sports. Additionally, he served as Presidential Spokesperson during Mahama’s first term.
Dr. Omane Boamah holds a medical degree from the University of Ghana Medical School and completed a medical elective in Missouri, USA.
His nomination is subject to parliamentary approval before he assumes office.
