TVET Coordinator urges parents to support technical education to curb youth unemployment

The Eastern Regional Coordinator for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Patience Boakyewaa, has urged parents across the country to encourage their children to pursue technical and vocational education as a practical solution to rising youth unemployment.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony of 52 students from the MIFAK Vocational Training Centre in Nkawkaw Asuogyia, Ms. Boakyewaa emphasised that TVET offers a direct pathway to employment and self-sufficiency.
“Technical and vocational training equips students with practical skills that guarantee job readiness upon completion,” she noted.
“By supporting their children to pursue TVET, parents are not only securing their future but also contributing to national development.”
She stressed that a shift in mindset toward technical education is key to reducing the country’s unemployment rate and called on all stakeholders to play their part in promoting vocational training.
The graduating students, who were trained under a government-funded programme, expressed appreciation to the government for the opportunity.
They noted that the skills acquired during their training had significantly boosted their confidence and improved their chances of gaining meaningful employment or starting their businesses.
The graduation highlighted the growing role of TVET in empowering youth, promoting self-reliance, and driving Ghana’s economic growth.
