National Union Drivers of Trailer and Cargo Truck express dissatisfaction with appointment of GHAPOHA CEO

The National Union of Drivers of Trailer and Cargo Truck has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the recent appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GHAPOHA).
According to sources, union members were unhappy with the selection process, arguing, also, the new CEO lacked the necessary experience and expertise to effectively manage the affairs of the authority.
Thus, the leadership of the union led by the Chairman, Wahab Yaba, has called for an urgent meeting with the Transport Ministry to express their concerns and demand a review of the appointment.
The union regretted that never in the history of Ghana had a drivers’ union openly campaigned for an opposition party with their own resources with the aim that upon winning, the government would put measures in place to enable their business flourish only to be slapped in the face by the appointment of someone who did not know the indigenes who toiled for the electoral victory.
"We are shocked and disappointed by the appointments so far. It's causing anger among the youth," said Wahab Yaba.
"We believe that the new CEO does not have the requisite experience and a tender heart to accommodate the grassroots members following complex issues facing their industry.”
The union urged President John Mahama to reconsider the appointment and engage with stakeholders to find a more suitable candidate who was well acquainted with their peculiar challenges in the area.
