NDC sues EC over disqualification of Amenfi Central candidate
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has initiated legal action against the Electoral Commission (EC) following the disqualification of its Parliamentary Candidate for Amenfi Central in the Western Region.
The suit, dated October 17 and filed at the Accra High Court under case number GJ/0088/2025, lists the NDC and Madam Joan Gyan Cudjoe, the disqualified candidate, as plaintiffs, with the EC as the defendant.
In its statement of claim, the NDC is seeking an interlocutory injunction under Order 25 Rule 1 of Constitutional Instrument (C.I.) 47.
The party is requesting the court to restrain the EC from proceeding with the printing of ballot papers and issuing the notice of poll for the 2024 parliamentary elections, specifically for the Amenfi Central Constituency, until the final determination of the substantive case.
The grounds for the injunction are detailed in an accompanying affidavit.
