NDC Canada chapter Women's Wing marks IWD2025 with virtual celebrations

The Women’s Wing of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) Canada Chapter commemorated International Women’s Day(IWD 2025) with a virtual event focused on the theme “Accelerating Action for Gender Equity.”
The celebration, held via Zoom, brought together women from diverse backgrounds to discuss ways to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment.
A key highlight of the event was a special address by Abigail Elorm Mensah, Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), a government agency that provides financial support to small businesses and entrepreneurs in Ghana.
Miss Abigail Elorm Mensah emphasized the crucial role women play in Ghana’s cocoa industry, highlighting the challenges they face due to limited access to resources, tools, and training.
She announced MASLOC’s commitment to providing women cocoa farmers with the necessary equipment and financial assistance to boost productivity and alleviate their burdens.
“We recognize the vital role women play in Ghana's cocoa sector,” she stated.
“However, many of them lack access to the necessary tools, training, and resources to reach their full potential.
Our goal is to bridge this gap and support these hardworking women in their endeavours.”
The NDC Canada Chapter Women’s Wing expressed deep appreciation for Hon. Mensah’s dedication to gender equity and her efforts to empower women in the cocoa industry.
The event concluded with a renewed call to action for continued advocacy and practical steps toward achieving gender equality in Ghana and beyond.
