Zein Global Development Trust Marks International Women’s Day with Call for Gender Equality

Zein Global Development Trust has reaffirmed its commitment to gender equality as it joined the world in celebrating International Women’s Day.
In a statement issued by its media department, the organisation highlighted the vital role of women in shaping communities, driving economic growth, and fostering social change.
“As we mark International Women’s Day, we reaffirm our commitment to empowering women and girls, promoting gender equality, and challenging discriminatory norms and practices,” the statement read.
The trust underscored the need for equal opportunities, fair pay, and improved access to education and healthcare for women and girls. It also called for stronger measures to protect them from violence and discrimination.
“We believe that every woman deserves equal opportunities, equal pay, and equal representation. We believe that every girl deserves access to quality education, healthcare, and protection from violence,” the organization said.
International Women’s Day is observed globally on 8 March to recognize the achievements of women and advocate for gender equality. This year’s theme, #AccelerateAction, calls for faster progress in dismantling systemic barriers that hinder women’s advancement.
Zein Global Development Trust urged stakeholders to take decisive steps to create a world where women and girls can thrive.
The organization, based in Accra, has been involved in various initiatives aimed at empowering women through education, entrepreneurship, and advocacy.
A global movement
The call for gender equality has gained momentum in recent years, with organizations, governments, and activists pushing for systemic changes. Despite progress, reports indicate that women worldwide continue to face wage gaps, limited leadership opportunities, and gender-based violence.
As International Women’s Day celebrations take place across the globe, Zein Global Development Trust joins other organizations in advocating for tangible action to accelerate gender equality.
