The Minority in Parliament has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government of deliberately withdrawing criminal charges against high-profile party officials, including Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo and Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson.
Addressing the press in Parliament today, MP for Suame, John Darko, criticized the government for what he described as a manipulation of the judicial process to shield NDC officials from accountability.
He argued that these withdrawals undermine justice and effectively grant immunity from future prosecution for alleged financial crimes, including money laundering and fraudulent breach of trust.
Darko contrasted the NDC's approach with that of the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, which, he claimed, handled similar cases with greater impartiality.
He further expressed concern that several individuals with pending legal issues had recently been appointed to key government positions, raising questions about favouritism and the integrity of the justice system.
The Minority is demanding transparency from Attorney- General Dr. Dominic Ayine, urging him to explain the rationale behind the case withdrawals. They insist that the law must be applied equally to all Ghanaians, regardless of political affiliation.
