Mahama congratulates UK's new PM Keir Starmer, anticipates strong Ghana-UK partnership
The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has extended his congratulations to Keir Starmer, the newly elected Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
Mr. Mahama expressed his optimism for a robust partnership between the UK and Ghana following Mr. Starmer's decisive victory.
In a Facebook post, Mr. Mahama wrote: “Congratulations to PM Keir Starmer and the UK Labour Party on their landslide victory in the British elections. “
Mr. Mahama expressed hopes of a strong partnership between Ghana and the UK.
“The people have spoken, and I look forward to a strong partnership between our two countries. Like the UK, Ghana will also have elections soon, and I hope for a positive outcome for my party and our continued good relations with Labour,” the NDC flagbearer emphasised.
Keir Starmer's ascent to the position of Britain's Prime Minister marks a significant shift in the country's political landscape.
His centre-left Labour Party secured a substantial majority in the parliamentary election, defeating Rishi Sunak's Conservatives and ending their 14-year tenure marked by numerous challenges.
