The Ashanti Regional coordinator for the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), Kwabena Nsenkyire, has encouraged the Member of Parliament (MP) for Asokwa, Patricia Appiaagyei, to affix her campaign posters on DRIP equipment, alongside those of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Speaking at the launch of the district's DRIP initiative, Mr. Nsenkyire expressed surprise that the MP, who is also the Deputy Majority Leader, had not yet placed her posters or the party flagbearer's on the equipment.

He urged her to do so immediately after the programme launch, dismissing concerns raised by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, who had called for the removal of political posters from equipment funded by taxpayers' money.

Mr. Nsenkyire responded to Mr. Mahama's criticism by recalling how the former president had similarly branded state-funded projects with his image during his tenure.

He argued that Mr. Mahama did the same, placing his pictures on laptops distributed to students and the Ayalolo buses, urging the Asokwa MP to follow suit.

The MP in her remarks, praised President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia for their leadership in introducing the DRIP initiative, which she said has significantly improved road conditions in the Asokwa Constituency.

She highlighted the various development projects undertaken by the NPP government in the area and called on her constituents to vote massively for the party to continue its work.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Asokwa, Akwannuasah Gyimah, also addressed the gathering, urging equipment operators to prioritise the community’s interests and avoid misusing the resources for personal gain.
