Dec. 7 polls: Presidential candidates to file nominations from Sept. 9 to 13
The Deputy Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC) in charge of Corporate Services, Dr. Bossman Asare, has assured the public that the EC is fully prepared for the upcoming elections.
Dr. Asare stated that all necessary measures have been put in place to ensure transparent, free, and fair elections.
"As we speak, we just completed the exhibition of the voter’s register, and when we finished that exercise, the onus is now on the Commission to ensure the finalisation of the voter’s register," he said.
He added that the EC has recruited nearly 200,000 individuals to work at approximately 40,653 polling stations across the country.
Dr. Asare also outlined the electoral timeline, noting that candidates will be expected to file their nominations from September 9 to September 13, 2024.
Following this, the EC will print the notice of poll, listing the candidates for both parliamentary and presidential elections in all 276 constituencies.
“After that, we will proceed with printing the ballot papers for the elections.
So, from the perspective and standpoint of the Electoral Commission, we are fully ready for a successful, peaceful, transparent, and credible general election,” he affirmed.
He spoke on the Joy News channel on August 30.
