Creation of Savannah Region was to bring development to Gonjaland – Napo tells Yagbonwura
The Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, emphasized that the creation of the Savannah Region was intended to drive development for the Gonjaland, not to foster division.
He shared this sentiment during a courtesy call on the Overlord of the Gonja Traditional Area, Yagbonwura Bikunuto Jewu Soale I, at the Ndewura Jakpa Palace in Damongo, Savannah Region.
Addressing the Yagbonwura, Dr. Prempeh acknowledged the significant contributions of traditional leaders in Ghana's history, particularly during the independence movement.
He commended the role chiefs continue to play in the nation’s development and expressed a commitment to working closely with traditional authorities, recognizing them as pivotal partners in Ghana’s progress.
Dr. Prempeh affirmed that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is dedicated to fostering this partnership with traditional leaders, valuing their influence in shaping Ghana’s future.
He conveyed strong support for Dr. Bawumia’s presidential aspirations, pledging that the Ashanti Region stands firmly behind him.
He further highlighted the NPP's longstanding commitment to inclusivity and partnership with the Muslim community.
Just as Dr. Bawumia, a Muslim from northern Ghana, supported President Akufo-Addo from the south, Dr. Prempeh expressed confidence that Ghanaians would rally behind Dr. Bawumia's candidacy for the presidency.
Yagbonwura Bikunuto Jewu Soale I acknowledged the impact of the Savannah Region's creation, noting that it has brought peace, spurred development, enhanced social cohesion, and created opportunities for jobs and trade in the region.
