#2024Polls: NDC demands immediate halt to re-collation exercise, calls for emergency IPAC meeting
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called for an urgent cessation of the ongoing collation or re-collation exercise being conducted by the Electoral Commission (EC).
In a statement released by the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey emphasized the need for an emergency Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting to address the matter, describing the situation as critical to Ghana's democratic processes.
“The purported collation or re-collation exercise currently underway lacks transparency and undermines the integrity of the electoral process.
We demand its immediate suspension and call for an IPAC meeting to resolve this issue,” the statement read.
The NDC's call comes amidst heightened tensions over the conduct of the EC in handling post-election processes, with the party questioning the legality and credibility of the exercise.
The General Secretary urged all stakeholders, including political parties, civil society organizations, and the international community, to closely monitor developments to ensure fairness and uphold democratic principles.
