2024 polls: NDC challenges parliamentary election results in three Ashanti Region constituencies
The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has initiated legal action to contest what it alleges to be fraudulent declarations of parliamentary election results in three constituencies in the Ashanti Region from the 2024 general elections.
The party asserts that it legitimately won the seats in Obuasi East, Ahafo Ano North, and Ahafo Ano South West but was excluded from the re-collation and re-declaration processes.
The NDC’s legal team on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, filed an ex-parte motion for security costs at the High Court in Kumasi. The court granted the motion, setting the security cost at GHS 40,000 for each of the three petitions.
Speaking on behalf of the NDC legal team, Lawyer Evans Amankwah emphasized the party’s commitment to seeking justice and ensuring that the will of the electorate is upheld.
“These constituencies represent areas where we strongly believe the true results were manipulated.
Our petitions aim to restore integrity to the process and protect the mandate given to our candidates,” Amankwah stated.
