Effutu MP Alexander Afenyo-Markin has informed the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, that as of Tuesday, February 11, 2025, “the total reported deaths now stand at three” as the Effutu Municipality, Central Region, records rising numbers of cholera cases.

“The total number of suspected cases has risen to 412, with cases recorded at key health facilities including Winneba Municipal Hospital, Winneba Health Centre, and the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Clinic,” he, also, underlined, drawing “urgent attention to the worsening cholera outbreak in the Effutu Municipality, and to request immediate support to contain its spread”.

A letter from the Minority Leader’s office, signed by himself, noted the public health crisis had “placed significant strain on the health facilities and personnel within the Municipality. As such, there is an immediate need for financial support for operational expenses, including fuel, sanitation efforts, and the procurement of urgent supplies, essential medical supplies and treatment kits, logistical support for health education and public awareness.”

“Considering the above, I respectfully request that the necessary resources and essential items be made available to the Effutu Municipal Health Directorate immediately to help contain the outbreak before it escalates further,” he emphasised.

“I appreciate your urgent attention to this matter and look forward to your prompt support,” he concluded.
