Police make u-turn; suspend interdiction of COP Mensah, Supt. Asare and Supt. Gyebi

The Ghana Police Service has decided to suspend the interdiction of three senior officers who were implicated in a leaked tape allegedly plotting to oust the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.
In a statement released on September 7, the police explained that this decision was made to ensure that it does not interfere with the ongoing parliamentary investigation.
The statement further outlined that the Service intends to initiate disciplinary proceedings against these officers once the parliamentary probe has been concluded.
The three officers in question are COP/Mr. George Alex Mensah, Supt/Mr. Emmanuel Eric Gyebi, and Supt/Mr. George Lysander Asare, who were initially interdicted in connection with the leaked audio tape.
The alleged plot took place in the office of the Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP, Chief Bugri Naabu.
The three men including Bugri Naabu, were summoned before a Parliamentary adhoc committee set up to probe the tape after it leaked and went viral on social media.
Appearing before the committee, COP Mensah accused Dr Dampare of being the worst IGP in Ghana’s history.
His stance was backed by Superintendent Asare who told the committee, he had more to say but in camera.
