N/R: Gov’t extends curfew in Kpatinga
Interior Minister, Henry Quartey, has announced the extension of curfew hours for Kpatinga in the Northern Region and its surrounding areas.
The curfew began on Friday, 19 July 2024, and will remain in effect from midnight to 4:00 AM daily.
The decision to renew the curfew was made on the advice of the Northern Regional Security Council and formalised through an Executive Instrument.
The Ministry of the Interior, in its statement, extended its appreciation to the Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and the community for their continued patience and commitment to peace.
“Government continues to express its appreciation to the chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them and to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace,” the statement said.
Alongside the curfew, a total ban on carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons has been imposed in Kpatinga and neighboring areas.
The Ministry cautioned that anyone found in possession of such items will be subject to arrest and prosecution.
