Mahama lauds traditional leaders, underlines their pivotal role in nation-building, promises collaboration
President John Mahama has pledged his administration will prioritise collaboration with traditional authorities, recognising them as essential partners in Ghana's development.
The president acknowledged the significant roles of the traditional rulers, noting they would duly continue to play a vital role in his administration to ensure a successful governance to bring about peace and national development.
He emphasised the institution of chieftaincy was not merely symbolic but an enduring pillar of wisdom and guidance in Ghana.
“Your wise counsel, rooted in centuries of tradition and community leadership, has fostered peace and stability during the last general elections. You have shown us the importance of dialogue, mutual respect, and nation-building,” he said.
The president spoke at a gathering in the Volta region during his Thank You Tour on Friday, January 24, 2025, where he commended the region for its unwavering loyalty and support throughout his political career.
He eulogised: “The Volta Region has always been a cornerstone of our great nation. In times of triumph and adversity, you have stood firm in the rain and sunshine, not only as pillars of my political journey but as defenders of Ghana's democratic progress.”
