The Licensed Surveyors Association of Ghana (LiSAG) has announced a collaboration with the Spatial Planning Agency to provide base maps that will improve city and town planning, ensuring better accessibility and sustainable urban development.

Speaking at the Association’s 6th Annual General Meeting, LiSAG President Mr. Samuel Larbi Darko highlighted the importance of accurate and reliable data in shaping the future of Ghana’s urban landscapes.

He noted that the initiative aligns with efforts to enhance infrastructure, economic growth, and efficient land use.

The two-day event, themed "Leveraging Base Maps for Urban Transformation and Economic Growth: The Role of Licensed Surveyors," serves as a platform for professionals to assess progress, exchange expertise, and plan future strategies for the industry.

Dr. Yeboah, representing the Minister for Local Governance, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, urged LiSAG to collaborate with the Boundary Commission to ensure proper demarcation of internal boundaries, helping to guide local communities with clear and precise mapping.

Meanwhile, the Special Guest of Honour, Oklepeme Nuer Annor Baah Sasraku II, Paramount Chief of the Yilo Krobo Traditional Area, called on the Association to address the growing issue of unqualified practitioners.

He emphasized that eliminating “quack” surveyors would strengthen the credibility of the profession and improve service delivery in the sector.
