IGP leaked tape: Bagbin directs report to Akufo-Addo
The Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has instructed the Clerk of Parliament to deliver a report from the ad hoc committee tasked the leaked tape that exposed a plot to remove the Inspector General of Police (IGP) from office.
The committee was tasked with investigating a leaked tape that exposed a plot to remove the Inspector General of Police (IGP) from office.
The report, which Parliament has adopted, implicates three senior police officers: COP Alex George Mensah, Superintendent George Lysander Asare, and Superintendent Emmanuel Eric Gyebi.
The findings indicate that these officers engaged in serious misconduct, a major violation under police regulations, warranting disciplinary action.
Despite the report lacking the signature of its Chairman, Mr. Samuel Atta Akyea, Speaker Bagbin emphasised the importance of the findings and the need for presidential intervention.
"The report is accordingly adopted," Speaker Bagbin stated.
He continued: "I can only direct that the Clerk to Parliament should make available a copy of this report, which has just been adopted by the house, to His Excellency, the President, as Chairman of the Police Council for any further action it deems necessary."
