On behalf of H.E. President John Dramani Mahama, Minister for Defence Dr. Edward Omane Boamah officially opened the 2025 Africa Land Forces Summit yesterday at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra, shortly after the Ceremonial Change of Guard at the Jubilee House.

The high-level summit has brought together Army Chiefs and senior military officials from over 50 countries, including 40 from across Africa, to discuss emerging and persistent security threats such as violent extremism, terrorism, and cyber warfare.

The Africa Land Forces Summit serves as a strategic platform for fostering collaboration and enhancing the defence capabilities and operational effectiveness of armed forces across the continent.

With a strong emphasis on information sharing, counter-intelligence, and counter-terrorism, the summit aims to strengthen global and regional peace and security frameworks.

Delivering a keynote speech on behalf of the Government of the United States, U.S. Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Virginia Evelyn Palmer, reaffirmed America's commitment to deepening military cooperation and supporting African-led security initiatives.

The U.S. Government remains a key partner in the organization of the summit and has provided significant logistical and technical support.

In attendance were key stakeholders from across the defence and diplomatic communities, including:

Members of the Diplomatic Corps

The Chief of the Defence Staff, Major General William Agyapong
