Fire breaks out at Job 600 building in parliament
A fire broke out early Tuesday, August 27, 2024, in parts of the Job 600 building in Parliament, causing damage to a storeroom.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and investigations are ongoing to identify the source and extent of the damage.
Thick smoke was seen billowing from some offices as personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service worked to extinguish the blaze.
Staff and workers in the building were swiftly evacuated to designated assembly points while emergency services managed the situation.
Job 600, which was commissioned by President Akufo-Addo in November 2020, serves as an annex to the Parliament Chamber.
The building was constructed as part of the Parliament House Physical Infrastructure Enhancement Project, aimed at addressing the longstanding infrastructure challenges faced by Parliament.
