Atta Mills was a selfless leader – Mahama eulogises ex-boss @12 years’ remembrance event

John Dramani Mahama has described his former boss, the late President John Evans Atta Mills, as a selfless leader who prioritised the needs of the nation over his personal and political gain.
Mr Mahama said when Prof Mills took over power from the NPP government, he was the first to cut his own salary as a sincere gesture to show solidarity with the economic hardships faced by many Ghanaians.
He described Prof Mills as passionate about lifting the vulnerable and duly allocated resources to social welfare programmes.
“He was a man who epitomised truth and honesty. From his life in Academia to his time as the IRS Commissioner, to becoming Vice President and throughout his presidency, he lived as he preached—transparently! His reputation for integrity was widespread nationally and internationally,” Mr Mahama eulogized his former boss in a Facebook post to commemorate 12 years of his passing.
Mr Mahama together with some NDC executives took part in a wreath laying ceremony at the Asomdwe park in Accra in remembrance of President Mills on 24 July 2024
John Evans Atta Mills was President from 2009 until his death in 2012.
