The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Benjamin Barfo-Bonney, Esq., as Deputy Commissioner for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ).

The swearing-in event took place on Wednesday, December 11, at 5:00 p.m. at Jubilee House, the seat of government in Accra.

In a statement signed by Kow Abaka Essuman, Esq., Acting Secretary to the President and Legal Counsel to the President, the invitation was directed to Joseph Akanjolenur Whittal, Commissioner of CHRAJ.

The President also extended his best wishes and urged him to make the opportunity a lasting impact.

“You have my full support and that of my government as you embark on this new chapter,” he said.

Additionally, copies of the letter were sent to high-ranking officials, including the Vice President, the Chief of Staff at Jubilee House, the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, and the Director of State Protocol at the State Protocol Department.

This progress shows how the President is devoted to upholding human rights and strengthening administrative justice in Ghana.

It is expected that Benjamin Barfo-Bonney’s appointment will bring additional expertise to the Commission, subsequently promoting accountability and protecting the fundamental rights of citizens.

In response to this, Benjamin Barfo-Bonney, Esq. also accepted his appointment in good faith.

“I would do it with humility, respect, decency and professionalism. I will never forget this opportunity as I see it as a turning point in my profession and academic career,” he replied.
