The Africa Governance Centre, in collaboration with Ghana’s Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, will host the Africa Women Political Leadership Summit 2025 on Saturday, 8th March 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

This exclusive, high-level summit will bring together distinguished women leaders, policymakers, governance experts, and key stakeholders from across Africa to deliberate on the state of women’s political leadership and explore pathways to greater representation and influence in governance.

Under the theme “Women and Politics in Africa: Progress, Challenges, and Prospects,” the summit will provide a platform for critical discussions on achievements, persisting barriers, and future opportunities for women in politics.

Key areas of focus will include enhancing women’s political participation, strengthening policy advocacy, and promoting inclusive leadership across Africa.

Participants will engage in strategic conversations aimed at identifying solutions to advance gender-inclusive governance.

The event will feature a range of activities, including opening addresses and keynote speeches delivered by prominent African women leaders and policymakers.

Plenary sessions and panel discussions will explore critical issues such as political representation, leadership challenges, electoral reforms, and strategies for inclusive governance.

Strategy dialogues will engage policymakers, civil society organisations, and governance institutions in actionable solutions to strengthen women’s leadership.

A recognition segment will honour select women leaders for their contributions to political leadership and governance on the continent.

The Africa Women Political Leadership Summit 2025 seeks to drive meaningful policy dialogue, inspire leadership, and chart a clear roadmap for increasing women’s participation in governance.

By bringing together key voices in African politics and policy, the summit aims to foster collaboration and innovation in advancing gender-inclusive leadership, ultimately contributing to more equitable and representative governance structures across the continent.
