VRA CEO: NVF claims frivolous-CEMSE

The Centre for Environment Management and Sustainable Energy (CEMSE) has dismissed allegations of procurement breaches against the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Volta River Authority (VRA), Ing. Edward Ekow Obeng-Kenzo.
These accusations, brought forward by the New Volta Forum (NVF), have been labelled as unfounded and lacking in merit.
CEMSE's Executive Director, Mr. Benjamin Nsiah, emphasized that Ing. Obeng-Kenzo does not oversee procurement processes within the VRA. "The claims by NVF are baseless. Ing. Obeng-Kenzo is not the procurement officer and has no direct involvement in VRA's procurement activities," Mr. Nsiah stated.
He further criticized the NVF for disseminating misleading information without proper verification.
"Some of the concerns raised by the group lack proper research.
A simple check with the Public Procurement Authority would reveal that Mr. Obeng-Kenzo's role is advisory, not operational in procurement matters," he added.
Addressing the issue of political affiliations, Mr. Nsiah asserted that qualifications and competence should take precedence.
"If the President believes that Mr. Obeng-Kenzo is the right person to lead the VRA forward, it shouldn't matter whether he is NPP or NDC; what matters is that he is a qualified Ghanaian," he stressed.
He spoke in a recent interview on Accra-based Kessben FM.
