The Chief Crusader of the Crusaders Against Corruption, Mr Emmanuel Wilson Junior, has suggested that Kissi Agyebeng honourably recuse himself from his position as Special Prosecutor.

According to Mr Wilson Jnr, taking this bold step is important to protect what remains of Mr Kissi Agyebeng's dwindled reputation.

Wilson Jnr’s remark follows yet another attempt by the special prosecutor to successfully prosecute an alleged state criminal resulting in a wild goose chase.

An Accra High Court in a recent ruling nullified a report that implicated a former Commissioner of the Customs Division at the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Colonel Kwadwo Damoah, and Joseph Adu Kyei, a former Deputy Commissioner of the Division, for utilising their positions to provide favourable tax treatment to a frozen foods company Labianca Company Limited.

The two accused persons; Colonel Damoah and Mr Kyei, filed a lawsuit against the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) in November 2022, contending that the OSP’s report lacked merit and had harmed their reputations.

Ruling on the matter on Monday, 27 November 2023, the Accra High Court also imposed a GH₵10,000 fine on the OSP and issued a restraining order to prevent the OSP from further investigating the two named persons.

However, the OSP, in a press release on the same day, said it acted within its mandate in the case and never in any instance overstepped its authority. 

The OSP also rejected the decision of the court in its entirety.

However, Chief Crusader of the Crusaders Against Corruption, Mr Emmanuel Wilson Junior, has insisted the ruling is a slap in the face of the OSP who, so far, has a zero-win rate.

Speaking in an interview on Class 91.3 FM’s flagship news programme, 505 on Tuesday, November 28, Mr Wilson Jnr described the OSP as one set up to vilify "innocent people on behalf of paymasters".

He, therefore, prayed the current Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng to walk away from “the mess” just as his predecessor, Martin Amidu, had done.
