Okaikwei Central MP advises youth on job opportunities in ICT

Mr Patrick Yaw Boamah, the Member of Parliament for the Okaikwei Central Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, has advised young people against waiting for non-existent jobs.
Emphasising that not everyone can pursue careers as teachers or doctors, Mr Boamah urged the youth to explore opportunities in Information Communication Technology (ICT) and skills development in various sectors.
He highlighted the vast opportunities available on the internet, emphasising that acquiring skills in different fields of the economy would contribute to personal improvement.
Mr Boamah encouraged unemployed youth to engage in skills training programmes to enhance their employability.
During the presentation of certificates to 29 beneficiaries of a digital skills training programme organised by the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in collaboration with the Ghana Digital Centres Limited, Mr Boamah underscored the importance of such training programmes.
He highlighted that digital skills offer additional income-generating opportunities, noting that one can pursue a career in fields like medicine while engaging in ICT-based side gigs.
Mr Boamah called on the beneficiaries to serve as ambassadors for similar nationwide programmes.
He expressed gratitude to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for initiating the digital training programme and commended Madam Kosi Yankey, the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA), for supporting unemployed youth in the constituency.
In response, Master Godwin Quarshie, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the MP for his support and pledged to make good use of the skills acquired through the training programme.
