Bullion van murder: Wife reveals last words of deceased officer
Amanda Amoah, the grieving wife of Callistus Amoah, the police officer tragically killed during an attack on a bullion van crew in Accra's Ablekuma Fan Milk area, has shared heart-wrenching details of her husband's final moments. In an interview, the widow disclosed that she learned of her husband's untimely demise through a television broadcast before receiving an official notification from the police administration.
Recalling the harrowing incident, Amanda revealed that she had spoken to her husband just a few hours prior to the fatal shooting. She narrated how her father firs contacted her about the incident.
"My dad called and informed me that he had seen a message on his phone regarding the death of a police officer in Ablekuma, which happens to be his assigned route as they often travel through Anyaa and Ablekuma. We immediately turned on the television, and the news was everywhere," Amanda shared with a heavy heart.
She continued, "After attending a programme, I tried calling him, but his phone was not connecting. Around 12 pm, I called again to let him know that I couldn't complete the task at hand as they demanded a payment of GH¢150. He responded, assuring me that he understood, and mentioned that he would send the money later."
"In just 10 minutes, he called me back, informing me that he had sent the payment. Subsequently, I went to withdraw the money. By 1:40 pm, I had completed the task and attempted to call him to check on his progress, but he didn't answer. I assumed they were occupied with counting, and he would contact me once finished," Amanda shared with Citi FM, her voice tinged with sorrow.
The loss of Callistus Amoah, a dedicated and valiant officer, has left Amanda and their family devastated.
The couple had just married last year.
They had a baby together.
