Salinko on how acting’s changed his life; 'I’ve bought expensive plots in Kumasi and Accra for hospital, factory'
Kumawood actor Abraham Kofi Davis, alias Salinko, has reflected on what acting has done for him.
He noted the real estate he has acquired in Kumasi and Accra and outlined their noble purposes, benefiting himself, his family and society as a whole.
Salinko spoke to Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo midmorning show, Wednesday, December 4, 2024.
“I made money by God’s grace from movies,” the movie and comic star said.
“Movies were beneficial to me. I made a certain amount of money from them.
“But beyond the money, I became a brand ambassador for several businesses. I do this till now – adverts, billboards, etc. So movies helped me.”
Salinko indicated was diligent to charge handsomely for his services “and when I advertise, it has a wide reach, too”.
Kumasi
“Acting helped me buy three plots of land in Kumasi,” he revealed, noting he only said this to encourage his audience and not to vainly boast.
He was happy to add, these lands were acquired in prime areas of the Ashanti regional capital “and not in the hinterlands as some often do”.
“Life is not a competition indeed but when you observe the progress of others, it gingers you to work hard,” he noted.
He said he began buying lands in 2014/2015, buying “expensive plots – about 15 to 20 minutes’ drive from Santasi roundabout.
“The least expensive at the time was GHS20,000 while the most expensive was GHS55,000.”
Salinko explained one plot at Atwima Kwanwoma – where he failed to secure a parliamentary seat – will be developed into a hospital as he had freshly decided. He said a second plot was for his siblings but registered in his late mother’s name, Ama Serwaa – to avoid litigations and unauthorised resales. He said there was a house on the third plot.
Accra
The popular actor said he experienced “many” landmark breakthroughs like “travelling, buying cars,” when he came to Accra, indicating this was facilitated by his TV show on UTV.
Again, in the national capital, he said he had acquired land “on which – by God’s grace – we’re building a very nice factory for our productions”.
He emphasised he made these disclosures – against his usual habit – to inspire his audience.
