Actor Prince David Osei, a popular New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporter, has suggested the need for an assessment of President John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

President Mahama secured a landslide victory during the 2024, elections when defeated former Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP, whom David Osei campaigned for.

The fourth and sixth President of the Fourth Republic of Ghana, Mahama was sworn into office on January 7, 2025.

He campaigned on resetting what local and international authorities judged an ailing economy by introducing a 24-hour economy, and launching Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) to go after former government officials who were engaged in financial malfeasance, with the aim of pumping monies recovered back into the economy, among other things.

Only 48 days after his resumption office, Prince David Osei on X, Sunday, February 23, 2025, asked, “Ghana [Ghana flag] How Far? Are you enjoying the Mahama administration??”

Appearing to be sarcastic, he asked, “I hear they are giving everyone milk and honey… 24/7 electricity and market women making outrageous sales?? Everybody go be okay kraa [wink emoji].”

In October 2024, Prince David Osei asserted it was impossible for Mr Mahama to return to the Golden Jubilee House.

“Good morning fellow countrymen and women. Let me share a brief perspective. Even if all the pastors were to pray and anoint Ex-President Mahama, he would not regain the presidency.” he said.

After the Electoral Commission (EC) Chair Jean Mensa declared Mahama President-elect, December 9, 2024, the producer and director commented, “Congratulations to the President-Elect of the Republic of Ghana… I will be president one day very soon. So, showing honor to whom honor is due, don’t get it twisted at all guys. I am different, and there’s nothing to be ashamed of here!”

In January 2025, an X post on the award-winning actor's X described President-elect Mahama as a "drunkard". However, in a Hitz FM interview, he said he was surprised to see the post, noting he was not the author. He said it could have been his cousins or friends who used his phone to make the comment.
