BET: Michael Blackson gets dream TV show
Hollywood star comic and actor Michael Blackson has a brand new show coming to the Black Entertainment Television (BET) channel.
The TV series, The Michael Blackson Show, according to bet.com, sees Blackson "playing a history teacher from Ghana who's cool in class and chaotic off the clock".
Blackson projects his African, specifically Ghanaian, heritage in this comic TV show as he donnes these fashionable jackets made with African print.
In his own words, "originally," he is "from Ghana, but I was raised in Liberia. My mother took me to Nigeria when I was a kid."
On Thursday, July 20, 2023, an eager yet unhappy Blackson tweeted: "Waited my whole career to get a TV show. I finally get one that premieres next Thursday and now we [are] on strike."
For about three months, the screenwriters of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) have been on strike over the threats of artificial intelligence (AI) and poor wages.
Blackson's show begins streaming from July 27 on BET+.
