Ayikoi Otoo refutes Ga Mantse rival’s claim to title
The legal counsel for Ga Mantse King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II has dismissed recent assertions by Boni King Tackie Adama Latse II, who claims he is the rightful Ga Mantse.
In a statement dated October 26, Adama Latse II reiterated his claim to the title, alleging that King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II is unlawfully holding the position.
In response, Nii Ayikoi Otoo, President of the Ga Dangbe Council and lawyer for King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, addressed the matter in an interview clarifying that the legal dispute is ongoing and attributed delays in the proceedings to Adama Latse II’s legal team.
“The two parties are before the judicial committee of the Greater Accra House of Chiefs.
Adama Latse, who issued the statement, is very much aware that there’s a suit pending, and he alleges he has won many battles,” Otoo said.
He noted that, despite Adama Latse II’s claims, the court has allowed King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II to fulfil the responsibilities of Ga Mantse until the case concludes.
Mr Otoo further revealed that Adama Latse II’s team has consistently missed court dates and failed to file required witness statements, thereby prolonging the case.
“Since I took over, we have been to court several times.
The court ordered that the parties file their witness statements, but he has refused to do so.
He has not been attending court, so it’s surprising that he would issue this kind of statement today,” Otoo remarked, describing the recent statement as misleading.
He clarified this speaking on Accra-based Channel One TV on Monday, October 28.
